My country was about to submerge itself in shame. The creationists in the Netherlands spawned an initiative to spread folders in this Darwin year, to counter the Evolution “theory”. It goes under the title “Evolution or Creation, what do YOU believe?” and its purpose is to filter the last gullible weak-heads out of the population and win them for this totally obsolete and superfluous myth of Intelligent Design.
That title! The audacity alone! As IF evolution is a belief system. Yeah right! I know people who actually argue that science is just another flavour of faith. Boy, WHAT a delusion!
But, sometimes things work out better than I expect them to. What do I see in the Dutch press on this beautiful Monday morning? I read that some major weblogs have started an action to send this folder – which is distributed to over 6,6 million households, costing a shipload of money – back to its creators! YES! I like that. Not only will these softies have to pay for the distribution, but they’ll also have to cough up the return fee.
Great. That will teach them, trying to start a discussion, as is pointed out in the Dutch press today, on the basis of a fable. And I am quite pleased with the idea that this creationist crap does not “land” in our country the way these bible abiding halfwits want it to. The Dutch are way too down-to-earth, as it appears.
I might have an opinion on the Cheese-Head Cloggies, and it might not always be positive, but this action against this faithful poison puts a huge feather in their caps. Also because it is fully in line with the complacency they showed when the pope visited our country some years ago. There were hardly any spectators lining the road! Even our prime-minister of that time called it “Undutch” to hang around outside, just to see a glimpse of the passing church monarch. I LIKE that. Chapeau, fellow countrymen!
