After a few weeks of serious reading I thought I’d had to digest something a little lighter. I ran into this book”A Perfect Mess” by Eric Abrahamson & David H. Freedman and I have been reading it in bed with a big grin on my face since. Amber looks over at me from her side, slightly disturbed by my chuckling, wondering why her notoriously serious hubby is having so much fun.
This book will cure you from the idea that being neat makes any other sense than maybe an aesthetic one. I always thought that keeping ones stuff in order, saved one a helluva lot of time. Well, these guys have debunked that myth for once and for all. They actually recalculate all the claims made by professional organizers on time saving. And they convincingly show the benefit of being slightly disorganized.
For anyone who thinks that bringing order in ones life will spawn happiness forever, think again. Do yourself a humongous favour and read this book. It rids you of the perpetual guilt that comes with being disorganised. It saves you from yet another New Years Resolution you are not going to keep anyway.
And besides all that, as I stated above, it is also VERY funny…
