I knew it! With the election of Brother B. for a new term as Prime Minister in Italy, the road is going to be paved for the largest move – inside our European borders - towards a criminally infested, totalitarian police state. We had all hoped such a state would have vanished from our European quarters a long time ago…
Enter Italy.
Since Berlusconi came to power again, he has made some legal changes, that bear the hallmark of a dictator, and a criminal one at that, with explicit bad intentions as well. To just name a few:
Phone taps by the police are becoming nearly impossible. This might seem in contrast to a “police state move”, but the measure is intended to protect the criminals. In recent history, while a Dutch bank was negotiating a merger with an Italian bank, a conspiracy between the Italian players and the central Italian Bank was discovered. The Italians had the intention to milk out the Dutch for several million Euro. The discovery was made possible by tapping phone lines.
Soldiers can patrol the streets now, instead of police… In peace time…! To protect the civilians from harm, done by terrorists and criminals….! Yeah, right! The way I see it, this is Adolf Hitler all over again, but then “a la Bolognese”. Soldiers in the streets at peacetime, to protect the civilians…? Even if you keep saying it out loud time after time, you can’t shed the feeling that something is going terribly wrong here.
Journalists are not allowed to publish anything on an issue if a court case was initialised and is still pending. In other words: anything can be kept from the Italian public under the excuse that it might, one day, end up in court. The only requirement: justice has to issue an indictment. Well, the guy who dreamed THAT up, must have been a student of Giuseppe Göbbels himself.
Several laws are being implemented with only one goal in mind: to keep Berlusconi, who is under fire from the justice department over [several cases of] corruption, out of the wind. This man is blatantly protecting himself from justice, whilst knowing what a bad boy he is. But hey, he keeps up his plastic smile without twitching an eyebrow. And the Italians eat it like sweet cake. WAKE UP, YOU FOOLS!!!
The really bad guys are protected by Berlusconi: the Mafia and all the similar cancers in the Italian society, have their hands free to do whatever they want. This raises the question as to where his loyalties lie. I do have an opinion, and it is far from positive.
It is clear where this is going. Italy is well on its way to become the new pariah within Europe, and the Italian opposition is sitting in its comfortable parliament seats doing nothing. I think I will have to admit it. Italians may be the best enjoyers of life, food, wine and beauty, but they are also inherently criminal, or stupid, or just criminally lazy, uninterested, or any combination of these factors. And too much to actually do anything against the bandits who are taking over their country.
Italy is not a real state, with a real centrally enforced legal order that serves all its people. Italy is a collection of loosely knitted criminal interest groups with obscure front men, who are well represented inside the government and the bureaucracy, and who have only one intention: to get filthily rich over the backs of the small people. And the aggravating reality is that they are going to get away with it, because Italy lacks the willpower, elasticity and possibly the ability to focus, needed to counteract this coup d’etat by this bunch of gangsters.
I am really deeply embarrassed by my ancestors from the Italian pre-Alps and I will warn my progeny against ever considering to return to that pirate nest. I was sincerely counting on my Friulian forebears to spark a popular revolt, to relieve the country of the idiocy they are facing.
What a pity, because there is an estate waiting to be exploited, to produce beautiful wines and fresh kiwi. But the sheer loutishness of the ruling elite in that shameful Italy makes me shun all this beauty and give my kids this advice: “Children of mine, do you know this country, where we came from one generation ago? STAY AWAY FROM IT!!!”
