With a growing aggravation I am reading the story about the AIG Bonus Scandal on Wall Street. It’s becoming more obvious by the day: the Professional Capitalists, the consultants and executives, who are making money with money – and NOT with any hard work – turn out to be a severe cancer in our global society. This cancer should be eradicated with the utmost vigour and highest priority.
It is beyond any tolerance that the very people, the shameless white collar criminals, who plunged the entire world into the deepest crisis-abyss since 60 years – with their wild financial speculations, their reckless money lending and their unjustifiable large salaries + bonuses – are now syphoning off huge amounts of taxpayers money from the various bank rescuing schemes, just to stash it into their pockets as… bonuses!
The rationale for this blatant, filthy self enrichment over the backs of the people, is that they should be “rewarded” for their “effort” to “save” the financial institutions that they themselves helped to go bankrupt in the first place. And what I personally find mind boggling, is that somehow these very rich people manage to get bonuses besides their normal salaries… For “doing their jobs”?! They are getting paid fortunes, regardless of the results of their “efforts”; results that can be disastrous for the company or even for the rest of the planet.
One thing is becoming very clear: The Ferengi were right all along. Greed is Eternal. And the very greedy will see to it that they find themselves right there where the money is rolling to. And they are never going to be less greedy either. Greed is, as it appears, a genuine defect that sits in the head; and it wouldn’t surprise me if it were a defect in the hardware.
We have to help these sick, greedy, nauseating people. They can’t help themselves. We have to round them up and stick them into a correctional facility, where they can think about their aberration for a few years. They need to be taken out of circulation and locked up behind thick walls, where they can no longer pose a threat to society. And where they will be safe from the lynching mobs. These people have no empathic abilities, no conscience, no moral code to take example from. And they will not stop stealing our money if we do not prevent it.
These people, we should admit, are in fact inferior beings. They have no social mentality and they can’t construct the social attitude necessary to function properly in a high-rolling world, where responsibilities can reach far into the pockets of the taxpayers (as it turned out). They should not deserve the space they take up on our precious globe. They are, in short, a waste of life. What about a Wall around Wall Street, to set up an on-site Concentration Camp, right on the spot where the largest financial rip-off in our collective history took place?
Capitalism has shown its full ugliness in the last few years. Booms, Bubbles and Bonuses, Crises and Criminals; they have become familiar words in our lingo. For me it gets more obvious with every headline uncovering another skeleton in the closet. We will have to move towards stricter and better controlled financial systems. And we need to increase the public influence on the money market. Maybe we need to force the whole thing into the direction of a neo-communist or neo-socialist structure. Or maybe not. But we DO need to eradicate the kleptomaniac elements who screwed up our financial security and our economies. They deserve to be locked away in deep dungeons, with the keys thrown away for ever.
