If you want to know what “historology” is, read this blogpost from a while back.
There is a historological near collision coming soon. The dates: November 8 and 9, 2009. The occasions respectively: the Georg Elser November 8, 1939 assassination attempt on Hitler in the Munich Bürgerbräukeller, and the fall of the Iron Curtain a.k.a. the Berlin Wall on November 9, 1989.
Two majorly important events in German history are exactly 50 years apart. That is, according to some ways of calculating time-distances. It has never been my strong suit, but maybe someone who is of the opinion that our January 1, 2000 was not the moment of passing over for our millennium, can help me out on this.
Indeed, there are people who are able to defend that position with dry eyes. It does require a deeper mathematical understanding, or so I am told.
Today Angela Merkel, Germany’s current ReichsKanzler, announced the expected birth of her new cabinet, which should be due shortly. She wants to have it up and running before the festivities around the November 9 anniversary are going to take place. Since this event will have every news-camera on the planet zoom in on Berlin, she figures that it just looks better if there were a government by then.

Well, as we know Angie, she’ll manage, no worries. Not only is she stacked abundantly, which she is not afraid to show off at all, she is also a very “tüchtige Frau.” I must admit I like her, despite her political leaning.
However, the moment of truth will come – for me, that is – at the moment of her anniversary speech. Will she mention the event that took place 70 years ago? If she does, I will write her a letter of declaration, stating that I find her the sexiest head of government on the entire planet. And that is a bit of a stretch with someone like Yulia Tymoshenko – prime minister of Ukraine – as one of the contenders.
But decide that for yourself. Taste is definitely something to argue about.
Never mind. My wife tells me to love – in a metaphorical sense – all women. And I do. I love them all. Women are great to look at. And in every one of them, you will find something pretty, lovely and adorable. Now that I am at it: it takes a very silly man to have a preference for the fashion dictated “Bügelbrett”. They are rare to the almost non-existent, wanted by everyone and most probably going crazy from all the attention they get.
